This category needs a new name because, quite frankly, “Day Touring” doesn’t tell the whole story behind these sleek mid-sized kayaks. It should be something like “Day Touring With A Smile So Large Your Cheeks Hurt” or “Day Touring While Simultaneously Screaming In Delight.” Maybe even “Day Touring That’s So Much Fun It Should Be Illegal In Most States.” Seriously, the way these kayaks carve and slice through chop, it’s a shame they get such a bland name, but until we clear something new with the boss, you’ll just have to trust us ― you’ve never paddled day touring kayaks like these.
You might be the Day Touring type if . . .
- You want excellent performance in a package that’s not too long or too skinny
- Speed and agility are important to you, while carving and edging sound like fun
- Acquiring skills in rescues and recovery is enticing, and learning to roll is a definite possibility
- Distance paddling combined with camping appeals to your soul
